I love the way you write. It feels like sitting in front of a cozy fireplace in the winter. So much warmth!

There's a reason the zen masters send their novices to meditate on the sound of one hand clapping.
What strikes me is that the things that are ultimately real are the same everywhere, like hands making bread, hands like copper pennies, as you so carefully noticed.
I'm glad you found the place across the busy street where sisters make tortillas; a place where every morning the work of human hands brings wholeness and fragrance to a broken city. Its coordinates belong on the kingdom map, don't they?

hmm. the subtle sound of one hand clapping...

Thinking of you and wondering when you come back? And thinking how amazing it would be to farm together... And noting that your hand will need to heal before a hoe or shovel would be very comfortable in it... That healing process should give you time to seriously consider this idea, and dream a little about it.

Meanwhile, when you are really still, you can hear the trees clap their hands... and the rocks and trees shout. I find all places easier to tolerate (and even enjoy) when I start to hear these sounds. Clapping could be overrated... :-)
